For years, I was obsessed with maintaining a zero inbox to quiet the anxiety of unread notifications, but I’ve been curiously finding peace in letting the emails pile up. This unintentional batching has actually protected my focus and given me a way to handle life admin in one fell swoop.
▶️ What I’m thinking through in today’s Walk & Talk audio log:
The hidden cost of constant context switching, even when you’re just knocking out quick, “two-minute” tasks.
Unlearning the anxious urge to clear notifications immediately.
Reclaiming focus time for creative projects and family by saving non-urgent emails for a single, intentional block of time.
New to the show? Welcome to Walk and Talk with Geoff Wilson: an audio log of unedited thoughts and on-the-move reflections about the internal struggles, mindful motivations, and tiny joys in our everyday lives. Expect each of these podcast episodes to be of indeterminate length, frequency, guests, and heavy breathing as I ruminate aloud while covering a kilometre or two of the hilliest hills in my neighbourhood.
Put on your headphones and shoes, then come along for a walk with me! 👟🎧
